Walmart Coupon Policy

Since Sunday's paper, there has been a lot of confussion about Walmart's new coupon policy.  Well, here is what Lori at Moms By Heart has found out:

Walmart has expanded their price match policy to include certain competitor's coupons! I wanted to wait until I heard from the store before sharing this, as my local store had no idea what I was talking about! Here's what my email from corporate said:

Walmart will match the price listed on any valid competitor coupons that includes a printed retail price for a specific item.

Example:
Since the price of the item is listed ($.99) they will price match this coupon.

Since the price of the item is NOT listed, this coupon would not be accepted.

Keep in mind, Walmart will only price match for stores located in the same town.  Also, you must have the full competitor's ad with you
(not just the coupon).

Tips for a Smooth Transaction:
1) Be very organized!
-I organize my cart so that non-coupon items can be scanned first.
-Next, I place items with simple coupons (e.g. $.50 off, $1 off, etc).
-Then I place items that require the cashier to write in prices (e.g. coupons for free items or B1G1 coupons).  I let the cashier know that these are the items that correspond with the coupons and she can write it in as she goes.
-Finally, I place my price match items.  I do this at the end so I am able to show the cashier where each item is in the ad without having to worry about unloading anything else from the cart.

2) Don't sweat it!
-Be prepared for the possibility of cashier-itude.  You may get lucky and not have to deal with it, but if you're prepared in advance you won't be thrown for a loop if you encounter rudeness.
-Be prepared for the possibility of customer-in-line-behind-you-itude.  Everyone is stressed, especially this time of year.  Don't take it personally.  Just remember, that poor chump is probably paying retail.
-Whenever possible do your big transactions at a time when the store is not too busy.

You can view and print a copy of the corporate coupon policy HERE and the price match policy HERE.

I hope this helps.
